About Arturo (Art) Uribe: He began managing employees at age 20. He held several sales positions throughout his career. He worked as a carpenter for many years, and also worked as a press operator. He has been a union worker for much of his career. Prior to locksmithing, Art worked as a foreman building and installing trade shows. He also paints cars as a hobby, and knows his way around a vehicle.
The "Shop" began in the garage of Preston Roper, Art's father-in-law, in January 1977. The Shop opened on 3rd Street in Atwater in 1981. Art's wife - Lisa's parents then moved to the present location at 1101 Broadway Ave, Atwater (corner of 2nd and Broadway), in 1989. Art learned the locksmithing business in September 2002, and Art & Lisa purchased A-1-A / Preston's Lock Shop from Sharon Roper, Lisa's mother, in 2003.
